All custom work is $135/hour + materials, shop supplies and tax (where applicable) with a 1 hour shop minimum regardless of task. For shop supplies, we charge 5% of the estimated labor. Welding gas is not cheap and our quality standards require large amounts. Shop supplies include use of equipment, bandsaw blades, sanding belts, acetone, filler rod, tungsten and many other consumables required in metal fabrication. It can add up quickly which is why we have this fee. While we provide estimates, the labor times are simply a best guess. We keep track of all labor times with a labor time sheet for your project, which I can provide for any customer who wishes to see clock in/clock out times. If, while working, we feel the job will go over my estimate, we will contact you and inform you of the case at hand and we can discuss it. Our estimates are aimed high on purpose. We do this to help with unforeseen circumstances that arise often with custom fabrication which can increase labor time, even over the estimate. We try our best to be as realistic as possible but in the end, it is just an estimate so please keep that in mind.
Estimates can be very time consuming depending on the depth of the project so please keep that in mind after you read this and you would still like a written estimate. It's not uncommon for a big project estimate to take 2-3 hours to build after doing research on the project at hand and communicating back and forth. This is because we are not familiar with every detail of every make/model etc and take the time to research those details so we can help you choose the correct path to meet your goals.
The work we do is very specialized. The idea behind our business and structure is not to be the cheapest or fastest but simply offer the highest quality product in every aspect for those looking for high quality products. We have no interest in “just getting the job done”. We do not look for the least expensive way to get a job done. If you are used to garage built side job rates using the cheapest material available, you are probably going to be surprised at what we charge and your idea of “quality”, in that sense, is likely 100% different than our of quality. There is not a single “10 minute job”. It doesn't matter if it's a simple bracket that needs to be made. If it's that simple, make it yourself. We are a full time business with skilled fabricators. This is what we do to feed our families. We welcome anyone to get estimates from someone who can produce an equal product that meets the same quality standards as ours inside and out.
Please keep in mind that if you bring us a running car and you want custom replacement parts, there is labor involved in removing your parts before I can start on my own. That is NOT free and is part of your fabrication quote. Be aware that we are removing used parts in various parts of the car, some which may require removal of additional parts to access or potentially even running into rusted/seized/broken bolts. We cannot predict the future nor are we responsible for eating this time. We will communicate with you in the event this happens. If you are familiar with working on your car, please plan ahead to replace gaskets/seals...etc. as necessary.
Getting on our schedule requires all materials to be paid in full prior to making an appointment. Once we receive this deposit, we can discuss a drop-off date of your vehicle/project. Upon dropping the vehicle/project off, ¼ of the labor estimate is due for projects estimated to take longer than 2 weeks, at our discretion. We will work up until that time/money expires and then bill you weekly. For projects less than 2 weeks, ½ the labor deposit is due when the vehicle/project is dropped off and the remaining balance is due before leaving our shop.
Our goal is to exceed your expectations and create a positive experience through communication and pictures before, during and after completion. No hidden fees or quoting you one thing and then requiring a final invoice well above the original quote with no communication in between. No wondering what’s going on. You will receive updates as progress is made with pictures and in shop visits. We try to be as open and honest as possible as we have found that’s how we like to be treated. Our experience and equipment is valuable and the only way to do right for our customers is to charge appropriately so we can provide a lifetime of service. We have an absolute passion for motorsports and fabrication and believe that’s why you are contacting us. We look forward to building you something no one else has and exactly what you are looking for.
Thank you for your business,
Brett and the team at Fusion Works
